If you find it hard getting just the right words or rhythm, then these quick tips could help you.
1. Lists, lists and more lists!
Be honest with yourself – how often do you scroll through social media and just read the titles of articles as opposed to the whole thing? We are a world on the move, and you have to grab your reader’s attention in less than 5 seconds. Your readers are looking for content of value, and love things like tips, trends, tools and “How Tos”. In fact, the more digestible you make your information, the better. Try a numbering system or bullet points. Lists make scanning easier and this way your reader can digest your content at a faster pace.
2. Embrace the bold type
By Highlighting titles, repeated terms, links, etc. you create a form of visual hierarchy adding to a sense of ease for your reader.
3. Links
When linking to websites or otherwise, use an accent colour to add contrast, or use the classic underline. This is a clear indicator and simplifies the user experience. Remember the lazier your reader can be, the better.
4. The break-up
Breaking up long articles into relevant sections using a design similar to image banners minimizes the intensity of your content, and increases the chances of a reader moving all the way through your content.
5. Everyone gets a gift!
As you probably have seen most bloggers handout templates, powerpoints, images or pdf worksheets and for a good reason, people love free stuff, therefore where you can, do just that.
