courage quote

My journey with courage

Not a word, but an action felt.

New year’s eve I have this tradition. I choose my word. A word that shapes my year, my version of a wish or goal for myself.

Like most of you, I use my new year’s eve to reflect on days gone by. To remember the laughter, let go of the cries, and to thank God for all my blessings.

However, through this, I look at what I need to improve in the new year.

This year my reflections brought me courage, the courage to face truths head-on, to make bold decisions, and to take off the training wheels which I have held on to for so long.

Now, none of this will be easy. I predict quite a few tantrums, streams of tears, and hard hits.

Through it all, I also see growth, smiles, and a really proud Lauren.

So here’s to 2020 and the rollercoaster that awaits.

I found a prayer for Courage and thought I would share it in case there are a few of you who would like to join me on this journey.

Dear God, give me courage,
for perhaps I lack it more than anything else.

I need courage before men against their threats
and against their seductions.

I need courage to bear unkindness,
mockery, contradiction.

I need courage to fight against the devil,
against terrors and troubles, temptations,
attractions, darkness and false lights,
against tears, depression, and above all fear.

I need Your help, dear God.

Strengthen me with Your love and Your grace.

Console me with Your blessed Presence
and grant me the courage to persevere
until I am with You forever in heaven.

I pray this in Jesus name Amen.
